Halti’s parka jacket produced with SPINNOVA® fibre voted as the audience winner in Finland’s most sustainable product contest

Halti's Cyclus Unisex Parka, made with sustainable SPINNOVA® fibre and cotton, has been voted as the audience winner in Finland's most sustainable product contest. The public vote featured 200 products and services.

The pioneering partnership of two Finnish brands receives praise from consumers: Halti Cyclus Unisex Parka, created by the outdoor clothing and equipment brand Halti, in collaboration with the sustainable textile fibre manufacturer Spinnova, won the public vote in the annual Suomen vastuullisin tuote (Finland’s most responsible product) contest. The contest, held by Ostavastuullisesti.fi, highlights products and services that support sustainable living. The products featured on the site are carefully curated by an independent expert board.

Participants in the public vote praise the sustainable production of the Halti Cyclus Unisex parka and its comfort when worn. The jacket's design, versatility in across various seasons, and durability in use also receive compliments.

"If I need to buy a new product, my criteria are quality, timelessness, practicality, responsible production, and a value chain that takes into account circular economy practices. Halti's Cyclus Unisex parka fulfils those criteria. The product represents the latest innovation in materials and manufacturing methods," explains one of the voters in justifying their choice.

"New, innovative fabric technologies play a significant role in the fashion industry's sustainability efforts, and at Halti, we want to be at the forefront of it. Through our collaboration with Spinnova, we are actively involved in the development of sustainable materials and technologies and have the opportunity to test the commercial scalability of these materials. The Cyclus Unisex parka is nearly sold out, but we will continue to invest in material innovation collaboration in the future," says Halti's Head of Operations, Laura Roman.

"It's great to receive recognition from consumers in such a direct way. The development of the parka involved an exploration of sustainability from many angles. In addition to using Spinnova's sustainable fibre, the fabric of the jacket is dyed using resource-efficient technology. Outdoor clothing is typically made from synthetic fibres, but this product proves that the required characteristics can be achieved using more sustainable fibres," adds Shahriare Mahmood, Chief Sustainability Officer at Spinnova.

The Halti Cyclus Unisex parka is part of Halti's urban Kallio® by Halti® collection. The production of the parka uses SPINNOVA® fibre made from certified wood, with 99% less water consumption and 74% fewer CO2 emissions compared to conventional cotton. The product is dyed using the imogo’s technology, which consumes approximately 90% less water, energy, and chemicals compared to conventional fabric dyeing processes. The water repellency treatment applied to the jacket does not contain any PFAS chemicals. Cyclus Unisex is a water-repellent, windproof, and durable parka that can be easily recycled in the future.
